The new West Ham manager is convinced it will take time to establish a clear philosophy at West Ham United. The former Nottingham Forest manager, who is getting accustomed to his latest role, wants to connect with the club’s culture on an emotional level.

Hired after the abrupt departure of his predecessor, Nuno explained that veteran members have been educating him about the club’s inner workings. “This is what I’m aiming to comprehend on a daily basis,” he said. “It’s not just knowing—we have to feel it. Patience is required to feel it. Once we feel it, we must make it part of us.”

He highlighted that feeling makes the difference, rather than theoretical knowledge. When it comes to playing identity, Nuno stated they are not yet close from realizing it. “Merely talking about the ‘West Ham way’—we must build it, we must feel it.”

Starting Period and Long Road Ahead

The new manager’s start began with an positive share of the points at Everton. When asked about the proximity he is to establishing a team identity, he responded, “Personally, I feel quite distant. It’s challenging and requires a collective push at the club. But it’s a priority.”
