In a surprising crossover event that defies usual forecasts, the game developer has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Disclosed

According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of banned ceremonies and monstrous transformations reverberate through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden sect.

The questline centers on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The trailer features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Extra Material

Players who accomplish the mission will receive an unique katana together with numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

Third Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's third free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that clearly referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
